Position:                     Machinist – NOC (72100)

For over 55 years, York Sheet Metal and York Chutes Ltd. have been leaders in HVAC and garbage chute manufacturing in Canada. The family-owned business has served thousands of clients throughout the Downtown Core and the Greater Toronto Area as well as on a Provincial and international level.

York Sheet Metal specializes in design, manufacturing and installation of a vast range of products; including garbage and linen chutes, ventilation systems, compactors, Tri & Bi Sorter Systems, recycling and garbage bins and more. 

We are currently looking for a Machinist to join the team based out of Woodbridge Ontario.  The Machinist will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to cut and grind metal, to form parts and products with precise dimensions.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations

·       Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces

·       Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planing, drilling, precision grinding and other operations

·       Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools

·       Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments

·       Partially set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

·      Minimum 1 year of work experience as a Machinist or in a related environment required

·      Must be well organized and punctual

·      Ability to interact with people effectively and in a professional manner

·      Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
